Bamboo Lota: Number 9 and Rising

Within the turmoil that my professional life is going through right now, the one sliver of excitement and promise has been Bamboo Lota. It makes me excited to see the progress and to connect with more people around the world. Even if we don’t win or the venture doesn’t get off the ground, I will always be happy knowing that I worked hard on something I actually care about.
That said, WE’RE NUMBER 9!! Through hard work and dogged determination, Kyson, Stephanie, and I were able to convince enough people to endorse us so that we are now in the top 10!
We now show up when you go to the main page: http://arc.peacecorpsconnect.org/contest
Last week we were not even in the contest. Now, we are in the top 10. It may not seem like much to some people but I am so darn proud of us. It’s not easy asking people to do something for you (no matter how altruistic it may be) and you have to really believe in not only the idea, but the realistic possibility, the team, etc. to sum up the courage to put yourself out there. I am enough of a realist to know that this venture is not possible just with the three of us. But I do believe that we can make it happen. We can initiate the process, gain momentum, and pass it on to those who have the expertise. I also plan to learn everything I can along the way.
Please, ask any questions you need to be convinced. Even if you think it’s the worst idea in the world, tell me so we can address those concerns. Just to give you a behind the scenes look at what we’re working on, we’re planning to enter another contest soon and are working on revamping our business plan. Along the way we have had several MBA holders, professors, Malawians, and people who work in development and social enterprise take a look at our business plan and give us valuable feedback. We plan to incorporate as much of those comments as possible in the final product and many of them have generously offered to look at Version 2.0.
Thank you and have a good night!
